Kathryn Bradley-Love
The Rev. Dr. Kathryn Bradley-Love is Coordinator for
Prayer Ministries within the ELCA’s Division for Congregational
Ministries. Born in Chicago, Dr. Love also graduated from Chicago
Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She
earned her Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in
Dayton, Ohio. Prior to her current call, she served the congregation of
Martin Luther Evangelical Church in Mobile, Alabama. Dr. Love now serves
as a part of the evangelism and Christian education team on our churchwide
staff, helping to develop and expand congregational prayer ministry. Her
metaphor is that of a bridge-builder who seeks spiritual renewal, a
passion for mission, and class and cultural community inclusiveness. Her
model of prayer and evangelism calls all to discipleship. |

Bishop Donald McCoid
The Rev. Donald J. McCoid serves as bishop of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod
– our synod’s partner synod within the ELCA. He joins our assembly
both to represent his own synod and to bring greetings and encouragement
from the Presiding Bishop of the ELCA, the Rev. Dr. Mark Hanson. He will
speak at our assembly banquet on Saturday evening. Bishop McCoid currently
chairs the ELCA’s Conference of Bishops and is very active in
ecumenical, interfaith, social service, and mission endeavors. In 1983
Thiel College conferred an honorary doctorate of divinity degree on him
for his Appalachian and synodical ministry. He was ordained in 1968 and
served three congregations within Pennsylvania before his election as
bishop in 1987. He is a native of Wheeling, WV; he and his wife, Saundra,
have two grown daughters.
