The
Rev. Dr. Tony Campolo, is our guest
speaker and preacher. He will address us
in assembly, and he will be with the
Youth Convo.
Tony Campolo is professor
emeritus of Sociology at Eastern
University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. He
previously served for ten years on the
faculty of the University of Pennsylvania.
He is a graduate of Eastern College and
earned a Ph.D. from Temple University.
Founder and President of the Evangelical
Association for the Promotion of Education (EAPE), Dr.
Campolo has worked to create, nurture and support programs
for “at-risk” children in cities across North America, and
has
helped establish schools and universities in several
developing countries.Dr. Campolo is a media commentator on religious,
social and political matters, having been a guest on
television
programs like Nightline, Crossfire, Politically Incorrect,
The
Charlie Rose Show, Larry King Live and CNN News. He co-hosted
his own television series, Hashing It Out, on the
Odyssey Network, and presently hosts From Across the Pond,
a weekly program on the Premier Radio Network in England.
The author of 32 books, his most recent titles are Speaking
My
Mind, Let Me Tell You a Story: Life Lessons from Unexpected
Places and Unlikely People (WORD); The Survival Guide for
Christians on Campus, co-authored by Will Willimon
(Howard); and Which Jesus?: Choosing Between Love and
Power. |
Ms.
Stacy D. Kitahata is our Bible Study
Leader. She presently serves Region 1 as
Coordinator of Evangelical Outreach.
Before going to the northwest, Stacy
served as Dean and member of the
faculty at the Lutheran School of
Theology at Chicago and as Associate
Director for Global Education, ELCA
Division for
Global Mission.Stacy's extensive educational,
cross cultural, and anti-racism experience began with her
growing up in south central Los Angeles, California. Her
writings include contributions to Weaving God's Love Across
Cultures, Sacred Sea, Lutheran Woman Today, Women of the
ELCA Cross Cultural materials, and youth ministry resources.
Stacy's education includes degrees from UCLA and
McCormick Theological Seminary.
