GUIDE TO THE ASSEMBLY

The 2008 Synod Assembly will remind us of the many ways we have been readied for this life of discipleship. Nurtured by parents and family, coaxed by mentors and friends, schooled by pastors and teachers, stirred by retreats and reflections, supported by community and companions – in all these ways and more we are formed in body, mind and spirit for living the DiscipleLife. Children’s ministry, confirmation ministry, youth ministry, young adult ministry, campus ministry, men’s ministry, and women’s ministry are keys to walking alongside people wherever they are on their life’s journey. Strengthening these vital congregational ministries is essential to our task of “growing disciples of Jesus.” The assembly will help us focus on the ways we are Formed for DiscipleLife and will challenge us to be involved in the spiritual formation of people of all ages.

With all of this in mind the Synod Council has formally requested that each congregation, in sending voting members to this next assembly, insure at least one voting member is between the ages of 18 and 30.
