Life Long Learning

and Development

"All rostered leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are expected to provide for their own health and growth, and to be accountable to the congregations and synods of this church and to their colleagues in ministry for their life-long learning and devleopment"

(ELCA's Vision and Strategy Statement).

 

Holistic life-long learning and development includes

• A minimum of 50 contact hours per year of intentional continuing education or 150 contact hours each three-year period.

• Spiritual disciplines

• Habits of personal study

• Regular worship

• Self-care

• Involvement in the wider community

• Participation in intentional colleague groups

• Peer review as appropriate for personal and vocational development


Also

• Extended study and renewal of a minimum of one to three months every three to five years in present call.

• An annual review of continuing education needs and plans with an appropriate group within the congregation or agency and the synod."
