From Merger to Merger: History of the Southern District - ALC
A history of the Southern District is now available. It is authored by a number of folks active in the former judicatory. The 200-page book, also includes a 40 page photo gallery. A limited publication run will be completed in early January. To reserve a copy of this first edition of the history, please send a donation of $35.00 to: ELCA Region 4 - South Archives, 1090 Oestreich Drive, Seguin, TX 78155. Checks are payable to Southwestern Texas Synod. Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest
We have been asked to lift up our Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest (LSPS). A desired goal of LSPS is that each congregation in the synod include LSPS in its budget as a line item. This will help to secure the financial sustainability of the program. We have been asked by the LSPS staff to pray each and every Sunday for an indefinite period of time into the future for LSPS. Here is a suggested petition that can be used That our Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest will be blessed with financial stability and the necessary resources for quality theological education, and that many students will hear and respond to God's call to ministry so that the LSPS student body will multiply greatly and Christ's church will be blessed by their ministry, let us pray.

LMSS-Waco Receives A Challenge Grant
From Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
LMSS-Waco must raise $17,500 to receive the $25,000 from Thrivent. They have through next year to raise the funds but the sooner the better. They will not match Thrivent Choice Dollars but they will match congregation benevolence support so congregations are urged to consider this in preparing 2012 budgets.
