We give thanks to God always for you all, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and streafastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. (I Thess.1:2-3)
Each year we "pray our way through the NT-NL" by remembering all of our partners in ministry around the mission area -- the congregations, leaders, commissions, agencies and organizations who, collectively, are the NT-NL. Join us on this journey of prayer using the NT-NL Prayer List.

PARISH LAY MISSION ACADEMY
Expanding Leadership and Understanding
The Parish Lay Mission Academy is a program of the Northern Texas - Northern Louisiana Mission Area of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for the purpose of providing trained lay leadership for the student’s home congregation or other ministries of this mission area.
Over one-hundred PLMA graduates are to be found in congregations all over the NT-NL mission area assisting in important ministries of their congregations. They are fulfilling ministries of teaching and administration, pastoral care and evangelism, worship leadership and stewardship. Pastors have learned to rely on them to help meet the growing needs in the congregation. Our PLMs are valued members of the congregational leadership team.
How did they get there? By study, prayer and classroom conversation. They wear the PLMA collar with distinction, having completed a two-year course of study and special action-reflection projects. Their studies include twelve courses in topics like the Old and New Testament, church history, pastoral care, prayer, preaching, worship leadership and Lutheran identity. They work with their home pastor in a mentoring relationship. They pursue special projects and an internship experience.
This fall the PLM Academy meets on September 17, October 22, and November 19. The three courses being offered are “Prophets & Priests”, “Prayer & Spirituality”, and “Leadership”. The spring semester meets March 17, April 21 and May 19 and offers courses on “The Four Gospels”, “Lutheran Identity”, and “Nurturing Faith Community”. All courses are taught at Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills in both English and Spanish. The cost per semester is $195.
