The Rev. Dr. Ray Pickett, formerly of the Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest, has been named a professor of New Testament at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, effective September 1.
This year our Spread the Spirit's Fire gatherings take place in five locations around the synod and feature Bishop Kanouse as well as David Misenheimer and Jeff Kjellberg (Kairos Consultants) offering encouragement and teaching about stewardship and the plans for DiscipleLife Alive!
And while we are on the subject of stewardship, a new series of gatherings for the Stewardship Academy have also been planned for the fall. The academy is a powerful way to help leaders reconsider their personal stewardship and discipleship.

One of the Global Formation Events is set for Katy, Texas, on Oct. 2-3. The event is a stimulating way to experience in person the work of global mission within the ELCA. The event continues with a Global Mission Festival on Sunday, Oct. 4.
