SUMMARY:Intentional Interim Training (POSTPONED)
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED DUE TO LACK OF REGISTRATIONS\, AND A REVISED (AND SHORTER AND EVEN LESS EXPENSIVE) EVENT WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE. You may email kris@ntnl.org to be added to that notification list for the later revised event. \nThis training is helpful not only for pastoral leaders seeking to explore new vocational paths but also for improving leadership skills for congregational change. \nThe basic curriculum is designed to introduce clergy and lay professionals to the practice of intentional interim ministry. Although focusing on Lutheran theology and polity\, the training is open to all lay leaders and clergy desiring and/or called to this special ministry in congregations during a pastoral transition. \nPhase I will be in person\, August 12-15\, at Briarwood Leadership Center. \nPhase I (Planting) is a residential week ‘focusing on the theory\, theology\, leadership skills\, and congregational systems related to intentional interim ministry \nPhase II will be over time and completed individually. \nPhase II (Cultivating) is a six-month experience in a parish or institutional setting\, ideally in a leadership transition\, in which the participant in this program “puts into practice” the material learned in Phase I. \nPhase III will be in person\, February 10-13\, 2020\, also held at Briarwood. \nPhase III (Harvesting) is the second residential week\, in which\, through a group process\, you will share one of your critical incident reports\, review material learned in Phase I\, and learn more about the dynamics of congregations in pastoral transition\, and your leadership skills and needs. You will also discuss the biblical and theological connections in this special ministry. \nLed by Paul Svingen\, Tim Drom\, and Susan Baldwin. Click here for promotional copy that includes biographies. \nRegistration with full payment of only $1\,195 per person due by Wednesday\, June 26. This incredible pricing is for all 3 phases\, including meals during Phases I and III\, as well as the Insights Inventory\, and is heavily subsidized by the Briarwood Leadership Center and the NT-NL Synod\, ELCA. \nHousing on-site at Briarwood is available at an additional cost of $105/night (single occupancy). You can book your housing for Phase I when you register. \nMinimum of 16 registrants required to hold training. Registrants will be notified by Monday\, July 1.

We encourage you to attend and participate in the biblical mandate of peacemaking. \nRegistration 9:30 am\nProgram 10:00 am to 2:00 pm \nShepherd of Life Lutheran Church\n715 E. SUMMARY:Faith Climate Action Week
DESCRIPTION:(Previously known as the Preach-In on Global Warming) \nFaith Climate Action Week will be ten days in April during Earth Month and will focus on how we can take action to protect our climate. This year\, we will find joy and rejuvenation in the natural world and reconnect to why we love and protect our planet. \nGo to the event website for Worship Resources\, How To Participate\, and much more! \n\nCaring for Creation \nThe Caring for Creation: Vision\, Hope and Justice social statement explains the ELCA’s teachings on ecology and the environment\, grounded in a biblical vision of God’s intention for the healing and wholeness of creation. This statement provides a Christian understanding of the human role to serve in creation\, and a hope rooted in God’s faithfulness to the creation from which humans emerge and depend upon for sustaining life. It provides a framework for understanding the human role in creation\, the problem of sin and the current environmental crisis. \nCaring for Creation expresses a call to pursue justice for creation through active participation\, solidarity\, sufficiency and sustainability\, and states the commitments of the ELCA for pursuing wholeness for creation — commitments expressed through individual and community action\, worship\, learning\, moral deliberation and advocacy. \nYou can read or download the full social statement Caring for Creation: Vision\, Hope and Justice in English or en español. This statement was adopted in 1993 by the ELCA Churchwide Assembly.
