DESCRIPTION:Fifteenth Joe A. and Nancy Vaughn Stalcup Lecture on Christian Unity \nLocation: East Dallas Christian Church \nFree and open to the public \nRSVP requested \nJooseop Keum is Distinguished Professor of World Christianity at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary (PUTS) in Seoul\, South Korea. Rev. Dr. Keum served the World Council of Churches (WCC) based in Geneva\, Switzerland for ten years as Director of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) and as editor of International Review of Mission\, which is the missiological journal incepted by the World Missionary Conference in Edinburgh 1910. He taught history and issues of ecumenical missiology as research professor at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Dr. Keum received a PhD at New College\, University of Edinburgh\, and served the Council for World Mission in London as the executive secretary of Mission Programme. Prof. Keum’s main focus of research is ecumenical understanding and practice of mission in the context of world Christianity. His current project is a forthcoming book on A Missiology of Life. He is the main editor of the new WCC mission statement\, Together towards Life: Mission and Evangelism in Changing Landscapes. He organised the 14th World Mission Conference in 2018 with a great success in Arusha\, Tanzania. Debracen Reformed Theological University awarded him an honorary doctorate in reformed theology. SUMMARY:"All Times and All Places Praise the Lord" Workshop & Hymn Festival
DESCRIPTION:Church Music Institute of Dallas will sponsor its annual workshop entitled “All Times and All Places Praise the Lord” on Saturday\, June 15\, at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth\, Texas. Presenting clinicians who will offer inspiration\, edification\, and practical application for all those involved in the church music endeavor\, the workshop offers something for everyone\, whether full-time or avocational church musicians\, clergy\, or interested laypeople. Acclaimed organist Dr. David Cherwien and theologian Rev. Paul Westermeyer will encourage and offer participants a vision for a holy\, blessed\, and collaborative relationship among all of those involved in leading worship in the Church. Other clinicians will focus on choral music\, organ repertoire\, handbells\, and children’s choir. David Cherwien will play a free hymn festival on Friday evening\, June 14\, at 7pm\, at St Stephen’s fine four-manual Garland organ.
