DESCRIPTION:Greetings from ELCA World Hunger! Whether you are a newly connected or longtime advocate of our shared work\, we are grateful for your partnership in seeking a just world where all are fed. \nThis signature event gathers ELCA World Hunger’s leaders for a time of networking\, idea sharing\, learning and planning for our shared ministry to address hunger and its root causes in our local and global communities. Next year’s event\, January 20 through 23\, we will center on John 6:11-12 and the theme “And All Were Satisfied.” For the first time in the event’s history\, we will gather virtually! \nWe celebrate the new opportunities this gathering brings\, including the chance to welcome more participants than ever before. SUMMARY:Living Connected Workshop on Creation’s Gift of Waste
DESCRIPTION:Waste as a gift may sound strange\, but throughout creation\, the waste of one creature becomes the life of another in a continuous cycle. The exception is our species\, which declares things useless and buries or incinerates them. This Living Connected workshop will: \n\nReflect on the way our systems make it easy to be wasteful;\nDiscuss spiritual practices for viewing waste differently; and\nProvide resources for making faith-based choices about waste.\n\nNT-NL Public Witness is offering this workshop online twice in January 2021. The presenter is Katrina Martich\, a Lutheran Deaconess and licensed environmental engineer in Texas. \nSaturday\, January 23\, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM CST \nTuesday\, January 26\, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM CST \nRegister at katrinamartich.com for the Zoom link. \nLiving Connected presents creation care as a spiritual discipline\, formed by using the gifts of creation in just and loving ways.
