SUMMARY:Racial Justice Training
DESCRIPTION:Racial Justice Training\nIt is expected that rostered ministers in the ELCA undergo racial justice\, gender justice\, and clergy ethics trainings every three years. In partnership with the AR-OK\, SWT\, and TLGC synods\, NT-NL will begin a three-year cycle starting this year with Racial Justice training and offering Gender Justice in 2026\, and Clergy Ethics in 2027. \nNT-NL participants will gather by Zoom the morning of Wednesday\, November 12th beginning at 9:30am to watch a presentation by The Rev. Dr. Jia Starr Brown and have small group conversations. We will break for lunch and then beginning at 1:00pm we will gather on Zoom with the other synods for discussion time and Q&A time with Dr. Brown. We expect two hours for the afternoon session. \nTo receive credit\, you are expected to attend both the morning and afternoon sessions. Dr. Jia Starr Brown is an African American pastor\, educator\, author\, and activist with more than two decades of experience advocating for underrepresented communities. With a heart for community and access for all\, she stands – and activates – as a truth-teller at the intersection of faith\, education\, and justice. \nHer personal philosophy being “I give what I need”\, Dr. Starr Brown’s work is fueled by her lived experience – and lack – at the convergence of three vulnerable populations. \nEquipped with a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary\, and a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in the field of “Social Transformation”\, Dr. Starr Brown is ordained in The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is the Founding Pastor of “The Stable” –  an online anti-racism study church.

SUMMARY:Synod Assembly 2026
DESCRIPTION:Synod Assembly will be held at Advent\, Arlington (3232 S Cooper St\, Arlington\, TX 76015). Plenary will start in the afternoon of Friday\, April 24th and conclude in the afternoon of Saturday\, April 25th. Synod Council will meet in person Friday morning. \nRegistration is now closed. There will be no on site registration and Assembly will be fully in-person. \nThe Synod will not be coordinating a room block at a specific hotel. There are many hotel options around Advent at various price points that attendees can arrange to best meet their needs. Synod Council and Synod staff members will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Dallas/Arlington South (521 E Interstate 20\, Arlington\, TX 76018). \n\nThe Assembly Reference Materials (including the tentative agenda) can be found here. Updates will likely be made up to the week of Assembly as additional details are confirmed\, reports are received\, and more. If current documents change\, that will be noted so that you can be sure you have the latest version of everything. \n\nWhen electing lay voting members congregations are reminded to keep the following in mind: \n\nCongregations with up to 500 voting members can send 2 lay voting members (one male and one female)\nCongregations with 501-750 voting members can send up to 3 lay voting members (if sending 3 voting members there must be at least one member of each gender)\nCongregations with 751-1000 voting members can send up to 4 lay voting members (two male and two female)\nCongregations with 1001+ voting members can send up to 5 lay voting members (if sending 5 voting members there must be at least 2 members of each gender)\\n\nAll ordained and lay rostered ministers on the roster of this Synod\, SAWLs who are serving under contract with a congregation of this Synod by the Bishop’s authorization\, and ordained ministers of a church body with which the ELCA is in full communion who are serving as pastors under contract with a congregation\, are eligible to be voting members and do not count against their congregation’s allotted voting member numbers or gender ratio. \nIf you have questions about voting member eligibility please contact Anna Thompson (anna@ntnl.org) for clarification. \n\nNominations and Submissions \nAt our Synod Assembly we will be electing a Synod Treasurer to a 4 year term (2025-2029) on Synod Council. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, March 18th at 7:30pm the Thomanerchor\, the Boys Choir of Thomaskirche from Leipzig\, Germany will be performing at the Church of the Incarnation\, Dallas as part of their North American tour. \nThe Thomaskirche is the church of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Thomanerchor was founded in 1212\, some 500 years before Bach arrived in Leipzig. DESCRIPTION:2025 Synod Assembly will be hosted at the MCM Elegante conference center and hotel in Lubbock\, Texas. \n  \nRegistration is now closed. There will be no on site registration and Assembly will be fully in-person. \n \n  \nTo book your hotel room at the group rate please call 806-763-1200 and tell them you are with the NT-NL Synod Assembly on April 25 and 26th. \nA continental breakfast is included for those staying at the MCM Elegante. \n\n Additional details will be posted here as they are confirmed. \nSynod Assembly will begin at 1:00pm on Friday the 25th and conclude by 3:30pm on Saturday the 26th. \nThe Assembly Refence Materials (including the tentative agenda) can be found here: https://www.ntnl.org/2025-assembly-reference-materials/. Updates will be made up to the week of Assembly as additional details are confirmed\, reports are received\, and more. \nIf you have a report to submit submissions are due no later than 4:00pm on Friday\, April 11th. \n\nNominations and Submissions \nNominations for Synod Secretary are now closed. \nIf you would like to submit a resolution or memorial to be considered during Assembly you must send a copy as a word document or PDF to Anna Thompson (anna@ntnl.org) and fill out this form ahead of time.
