SUMMARY:MYJ2 Multicultural Youth Gathering 2022
DESCRIPTION:NT-NL Multicultural Youth will be gathering at Briarwood\, July 21-23\, for 3 full days of fun\, learning\, and fellowship! \nThis is an event primarily for youth of color. Congregations whose youth group is made up of a majority of youth of color can register all interested youth\, even if they are youth of European decent. Congregations that don’t meet this criteria can register individual members. The event is open to any youth who would have been eligible to attend the 2022 National Youth Gathering. \nEach congregation must have at least 1 adult for every 8 youth attending. Adults do not need to be people of color. \nBriarwood will host meals starting with lunch on Thursday through dinner on Saturday as well as overnight accommodations. Events will start around 10am on Thursday and run until 8:30pm on Saturday. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST \nNT-NL Youth will be gathering July 7-10 for fun\, fellowship\, and service! This event is for any youth who were eligible for the 2022 National Youth Gathering. We will be using the 2022 Gathering Materials to center our time together. While we know we can’t replicate the experience of a National Youth Gathering\, we still want to provide a space for our synod youth to gather together. \nEach congregation must have at least 1 adult for every 8 youth attending. \nMeals will be provided starting with dinner on Thursday through breakfast on Sunday as well as overnight accommodations. Events will start Thursday in the late afternoon and end with worship led by Bishop Gronberg on Sunday morning. Service projects and interfaith growth experiences will help us learn and grow in understanding of our Boundless God. See tentative schedule below. \nCost per youth: $50 \nThis event is subsidized by the NT-NL Youth and Young Adult Leadership Funds. \n(The interest form link has been closed. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that we are hosting our sixth annual event for high school youth! \nThis will take place on Saturday\, December 1\, 2018\, with an overnight option for those who would like it\, and will combine a variety of activities: \nWorship\,\nService Projects\,\nDinner \nThis year we are doing a Day of Service versus a weekend for a couple of reasons: First\, we want to be good stewards of money and offer several options so that everyone can participate. Second\, we know this is a busy season with Christmas pageants and want to respectful of your time. If it looks like there a quite a few who want to spend Friday night or Saturday night\, we may add evening programming! \nEach group will be asked to bring water bottles for their kids (for Saturday’s service project) and eat before you arrive Saturday morning. Lunch & Dinner will be provided for all participants. We will send out service project assignments with your confirmation letter so you will know if special tools or attire are needed. We will begin at 9:00am with a devotion time and then head out to work site(s). In the late afternoon\, we will gather to share stories and have dinner together. Congregations who would like to have an overnight component may do so for $100/room. DESCRIPTION:Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life\, to which you were called and for which you made the good conFESsion in the presence of many witnesses. – 1 Timothy 6:12 \nFeaturing: \n\nA short worship service with a message from the bishop.\nA photo for each confirmation class taken with the bishop.\nA ministry fair with information and involvement opportunities from synod and ELCA ministries.\nFood\, of course!\n\nThe goals are for confirmation students to: \n\nget to know the bishop and youth from other congregations\,\nlearn about our wider church and how to get involved\,\nworship\, and\nhave fun!\n\nCongregations are invited to register your whole confirmation class\, including teachers and adult advisers. As of January 2\, there are 158 youth and adults registered! \nWe have an exciting opportunity for the offering. Bishop Momoh of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone (ELCSL) has requested copies of the small catechism (the pocket size). Although Krio and Mende are the languages most people speak in their daily lives\, English is the official language\, widely spoken\, and used for official business and in schools\, so our copies would be incredibly helpful. Please bring copies of the small catechism that we can collect and then send to Sierra Leone\, or bring money (just $1 per copy) to cover the cost (we’ll have copies on hand for each attendee to put into the offering). This STORYBOOK BEGINNING event will include a presentation of the story of Jesus in Mark by TLU professor Dr. Phil Ruge-Jones\, who is a Markan scholar and storyteller. Dr. Ruge-Jones will present a live performance of the book of Mark for our group. \nWe will also have games\, conversations\, and dinner together so our young people from the NT-NL Mission Area can meet each other as we all prepare for this Journey To Detroit! In addition\, there will be an opportunity for adult leaders to collaborate and share. DESCRIPTION:3RD ANNUAL NT-NL HIGH SCHOOL EXTRAVAGANZA\nJanuary 16-18\, 2015\nWorship\nSocial Outing\nService Projects\nFun & Games!\nThe schedule is for everyone to arrive at Calvary Lutheran Church in Fort Worth between 7:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday. The weekend will end with worship on Sunday morning. Groups will be heading out about 11:30 a.m. \nEach group will be asked to bring water bottles for their kids and a couple of snacks to share with the larger group on Friday night. We will send out service project assignments with your confirmation letter so you will know if special tools or attire are needed. \nThe Extravaganza Hosts will provide continental breakfast\, lunch and dinner on Saturday\, as well as breakfast on Sunday morning. \nHousing will be in the Family Life Center at Calvary so please bring bedding and an air mattress. We have showers so bring towels and shower stuff. \nIf congregations would prefer to stay at a hotel there are several within a few miles and we can block rooms for you. Please let us know if you would like to stay at a hotel as soon as possible so we know how many rooms to negotiate for. Any hotel costs are in addition to the $45 registration fee and will be paid directly to the hotel.  \nRegistration is due on December 7.  \nPlease send a deposit of $20 per youth to hold your spot. You will notice that we have dropped the cost considerably from last year since everyone is also raising money for the National Youth Gathering and we want to make this event affordable for everyone. \nDownload the registration packet here. \n
