SUMMARY:ELCA Coach Training
DESCRIPTION:Following up on the learning from our experience at NT-NL Leadership Convocation\, we will be hosting an ELCA Coach Training event Monday-Tuesday\, February 26-27\, 8am-5pm both days. This will be an opportunity to learn more about coaching and begin the process (for those who desire) towards coaching certification. The event is limited in size and will be heavily subsidized by the ELCA and DiscipleLife Endowment Funds. The cost per person is only $100 for NT-NL members or $350 for all others. This cost will assist with materials and presenters and invites commitment from participants. (We have tentatively reached our limit of 15 registrants. Please contact jason@ntnl.org to be added to our waiting list.) \n \nWhat is coaching?\nCoaching is a process of coming alongside a person or team to help them discover God’s agenda for their life and ministry\, and then cooperating with the Holy Spirit to see that agenda become a reality. \nWhat is the coaching process?\nCoaching is not about the Coach!!! It is a focused process in which the coachee\, their community\, and their goals are the center of the conversation. The coach is focused not on their needs or goals but on working with the coachee to discern their goals and develop plans and accountability to accomplish those goals. Coaching has been shown to enhance the effectiveness of ministry for both leader and community. Bishop Gronberg desires to partner with other synods around the ELCA to develop understanding about coaching and make this vital tool available to more leaders throughout our church. \nAttend this two-day training event to learn\, apply\, and practice good coaching skills. Upon completion\, you can become a Level I coach in the ELCA. After completing labs\, you can become a Level II coach in the ELCA. \nClick here for the ELCA Coaching Ministry Overview.

SUMMARY:NT-NL Table Talk: Congregational Leadership in Changing Times for Changing Churches
DESCRIPTION:Here are the recordings from this event: \nCongregational Leadership in Changing Times for Changing Churches\, Part 1 \nCongregational Leadership in Changing Times for Changing Churches\, Part 2 \nTo download the PowerPoint slides\, as presented: \nhttps://www.ntnl.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/NT-NL-Table-Talk-October-2016-As-Presented.pptx \nA suggested donation of $5 or more would be appreciated to help us cover costs. You can donate directly to Briarwood. \n  \n\nThe speaker is Nathan Kirkpatrick\, managing director of the Alban Institute at Duke Divinity School in Durham\, NC.  Nathan designs educational programs and facilitates leadership development opportunities for clergy.  He has degrees from Wake Forest University and Duke University Divinity School and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Durham in Durham\, UK.  Nathan is a priest in the Episcopal church.\n \nThe topic / theme has been expanded. Here’s the tentative schedule:\n\nMorning session:  Three trends that are shaping congregational life today\n–          Changing shape of congregations\n–          Changing shape of leadership\n–          Changing trust in clergy and organized religion\n–          Table talk on named trends (and others) and how they are shaping congregational life and leadership\nAfternoon session: Recovering the heart of our vocation: How these trends are shaping ministry\n–          Cultivating the capacity for friendships with God\, with others\, with self\n–          Equipping the saints for ministry (today)\n–          Table talk on blessings and bedevilments in our vocation\n\nFrom Nathan Kirkpatrick: “My intent is that this will not be – by any stretch of the imagination – a lecture-based event. There will be presentations to give us a shared vocabulary to talk about what we are experiencing and then table talks to talk about what that looks like in our settings. My desire is a truly interactive day.”\n\n  \n$12 in advance / $15 at the door \n(includes continental breakfast and hot lunch)
