Where does my offering go? 
 

For every $100 that you give to your home congregation in 2011

Ninety Dollars
normally stays in your congregation to help it support mission and ministry in your congregation and community.

Ten Dollars
is given for the larger work of the church (a tithe):
$4.70 supports the national and global work of the ELCA
$5.30 supports the regional work of the NT-NL

Of the $5.30
  • 10% is used for mission -- new ministries, ministry in Sierra Leone, Mission Council
  • 3% is used for leadership formation -- seminarians, candidacy, youth ministry, Parish Lay Ministry 
  • 24% is used for the care of congregations -- resources, Call Process, mission-vision work
  • 24% is used for the care of rostered leaders -- events, resources, consultation
  • 20% provides for our office staff (2 support staff)
  • 19% is for operating costs -- rent, supplies, technology
