Sunday Nov. 11th I had a beautiful morning at Calvary, San Angelo. It was a good worship and celebration. As this was the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the “Great War” (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month) we honored veterans (including Calvary’s pastor Paul Zwarich who is a veteran of the Canadian military), shared the Eucharist, and celebrated as three young people participated in the rite of Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation).
One of the young woman confirmed was a member of the bishop’s group to the ELCA youth gathering. Was a great personal connection to her and her family that helped once more make real to this congregation how I am, as bishop, prioritizing young people. Also gave an opportunity for promoting our 2021 gathering in Minneapolis where I will again be leading a group.
It was a wonderful morning to be with the folks in West Texas who are a part of NT-NL Synod, ELCA and our work #InMissionTogether. #NTNL #CalvarySanAngelo #ConferenceOutWest
