The first three Advent Sundays have been a blessedly busy time. Visited Gloria Dei, Garland, celebrated confirmations and first communions at Santa Maria, Irving and last week a celebration of hospitality and community with St. Matthew, Fort Worth and St. Christopher, Episcopal.
So it was a blessing this morning to worship with my family on this fourth Sunday in Advent. To sit with my youngest (the older two abandoned me for their friends or helping run the live stream). Worship and sing the songs of anticipation and hope. And watch him continue to learn again how to be a part of the liturgy, the work of the people.
As we enter now the week of Christmas my prayer is especially for all our pastors, deacons, lay ministry professionals, volunteers and their families. I pray that in the midst of the busyness and vitally important work you do to ensure a welcome to those who come for worship (or join online) there will be moments together. To remember that God’s work, God’s kingdom, will come without your effort. We simply pray and work so that we may participate in it. Advent 4 blessings to you all. #NTNL #InMissionTogether
