This weekend, Pr. JT Miller invited me to be a part of multiple celebrations at Zion Lutheran in McGregor. Officially, it was a celebration of 100 years in this church building even as the congregation itself is now 130 years old. But there were even more celebrations added to the day.
Attendance was good as Pr. Miller preached for this special day, and also to honor the saints being remembered this day. The congregation has a tradition of giving a white rose to family members of the saints being remembered.
After worship, we all moved out to the parking lot to dedicate their brand new sign. But the celebrations were not yet done.
From the parking lot, we moved to the fellowship hall, where the man whose company designed and created the sign spoke, we heard the history story of the building of the current church, and they also celebrated the one year anniversary of Pr. Miller’s beginning as their pastor. He and his wife Christine were given gifts to celebrate.
And of course, there was food. There is always food. I am blessed to have this call.
