Dear Partners in Mission:

In the fall of 2024 a team from NT-NL Synod visited our global partners in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone. While there we were invited to participate in the dedication of the church’s medical clinic in Juhuun in the far eastern part of the country. This is a remote area that desperately needs services for women and children. And the church is delivering.

Below is a message from Bishop Momoh about the work of that clinic. As we enter a season of national thanksgiving I encourage you to give thanks for this work and learn more about our relationship with the ELCSL. Greetings from Freetown.

I am glad to report that the maternity unit of the health centre has been approved by the Government of Sierra Leone and operates under free health care for;
1.   Pregnant women
2.   Lactating mothers and
3.   Under Five
However, we are responsible for the general ward which include persons above five years and excluding  pregnant women and lactating mothers.
As to date this year 52 women have given birth to children in the health centre as follows;
1.   32 girls and
2.   20 boys.

We are still in need of more medical equipment, space and drugs for the general wards.The picture is of the medical team there.
