Briarwood Leadership Center has made the faithful and wise decision to hold only online camp activities this summer. While onsite day camp was hoped to begin on July 6th, the rising rates of Covid-19 infection in Texas and particularly in the DFW area made cancelling in-person activities prudent both for the safety of campers and staff.
However, camp will go on. Each week beginning Monday June 29th, there will be daily online activities from our camp staff. I look forward to being with that staff online this afternoon for our annual “ask the bishop anything” session of staff training. A sample of some of the materials they will be producing can be found here.
We are grateful for the strong support NT-NL Synod, ELCA communities and beyond have given Briarwood in this time. I also encourage you to engage the Conversation at Briarwood with Ulysses Burley III, MD tomorrow (Thursday June 25th) evening at 7pm. These conversations have been drawing 60 or more participants from across the country each week.
