This week (March 2-5) I have been in Chicago for the first in-person conference of bishops meeting in 2 years. A very needed and challenging time to be together, build and re-build relationships, and tackle issues of our life together.
Unfortunately this meant I had to miss a gathering of ecumenical leaders in Dallas in Thursday March 3rd to celebrate and give thanks for the work done together over the last year. In particular the work done as the faith communities of Dallas came together to support the migrant children who were housed in the Dallas Convention center. As you might remember NT-NL Synod, ELCA leaders joined with Roman Catholic and other protestant groups to provide supplies, chaplains, and worship for the youth housed there.
Grateful for our DEM, the Rev. Irma Banales and the leaders of our Conferencia Latina NT-NL ELCA who could attend the gathering. Here pictured with Bishop Greg Kelly of the RC Diocese of Dallas. Out of the challenges faced in the past year good relationships have been built across ecumenical borders and for that we give thanks. #NTNL #InMissionTogether
