Sunday was a joyful day for me as I traveled to Christ the Servant in Allen for worship. Pr. Gordon Illausky has now retired after serving this congregation for fifteen years. I was there to preach and install their transitional pastor, Rich Pounds. Following worship, we had a forum with the congregation to talk about the transition time and call process, and what to expect in the coming months.
This really was a joyful day for me as the spirit of this congregation fed my soul. Their Advent worship and music were beautiful, but I also got to hear firsthand about much of their outreach. This congregation is definitely outwardly focused, which is not something I can say about every congregation. They are vibrant and solid and strong. It’s a good congregation and they will be a good call for a new pastor in the future ahead of them.
