Every two years, Bethel Lutheran in Ericksdahl (Avoca) hosts a Swedish Smorgasbord that serves close to 500 people (including the workers). This is quite an undertaking for the congregation that has been happening for generations. Tonight was my first experience with it.
It was an impressive spread, but I have to say my favorites were certainly all the breads – Swedish rye and sweetbreads for dessert. And no, I did not try the fish pudding. Some things are just better left alone, in my opinion.
Three years ago, I got a wonderful selfie with some of the kids at Bethel too. Tonight, three of them were servers at the dinner and were more than happy to recreate the selfie for me again. Lovely children!
