The Tuesday after the Thanksgiving holiday has become known as “Giving Tuesday.” After multiple days of consumption (Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday) folks are encouraged to consider sharing some of their financial resources to causes they care about.
In the NT-NL Synod, ELCA we promote wholistic, year-round stewardship. Through our Synod Stewardship Team we offer a number of ways to grow generosity in our communities. Yet I am always positive about anyway our dominate culture can encourage people to be generous.
Probably not by coincidence I also received an update on mission support giving in 2021. It was with joy that I saw that in 2021 our mission support is up 3.8% vs. 2020. Making NT-NL one of 39 synods showing increased support this year across our church. This is a product of your generosity that enables our work to continue. You can give to NT-NL on our website at https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/1183611
So today and each day I pray you will consider in this season how you can individually and in your communities promote generosity.
Of course we know stewardship comes in a number of ways. One way I have been attempting to be a good steward, of both body and finances, is bringing my lunch to work more frequently. When I do so it is in a lunch pail handed down to me by my 6 year old. Which also serves to maybe generate interest in this post. 😉 #NTNL #Stewardship #Generosity
