Sixteen years ago, August 28, 2005, I was ordained in the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I came home from my ordination service to see news reports of people seeking shelter in the Louisiana SuperDome from the oncoming Hurricane Katrina.
Tonight our sisters and brothers in Christ in Louisiana are facing another significant storm in Hurricane Ida. This storm, projected to be Cat 4 when making landfall, will bring significant disaster and loss of life. Lutheran Disaster Response will be on the ground to serve in cooperation with Upbring and the Gulf Coast Synod, ELCA. I encourage you to consider a gift to LDR to support these efforts. We in NT-NL Synod, ELCA know and have received the generosity of others in our time of need. May we respond in kind. https://www.elca.org/Our-Work/Relief-and-Development/Lutheran-Disaster-Response
