As July draws to a close there is still much work to be done. On Thursday I was able to be on a call with Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins for an update on the rising cases of Covid-19 in Dallas County (a reality in most of our counties across NT-NL Synod, ELCA). Dr. Mark Casanova brought us an update on the medical situation and then Director Marvin Figueroa from Health and Human Services gave updates on the pandemic. The reality is cases are climbing rapidly.
They provided updated recommendations which can be found here. https://www.dallascounty.org/…/Dallas…
I realize that we are all tired from the pandemic. That our communities are in a variety of contexts and realities. But I stress again, we are called to care for our neighbors and put their needs above our desires.

In other work I am thankful that the finishing touches are being completed on repairs to damage in the Leadership Center building at Briarwood Leadership Center. As with many of our churches Briarwood has had a challenge negotiating with insurance to get work started. There is still work to be done on the Quail Run rooms in addition to the continual deferred maintenance needs. All of which put a strain on the leadership and staff as well as reduced opportunities for revenue generation. Please join me in praying for them for patience and fortitude. For your support of Briarwood thank you. Please join us for our Sept 11th regathering celebration (it will be largely outdoors) and have Oct 18-20th down for our 2021 Leadership Convocation.
I pray you all have a safe and healthy weekend. #NTNL #InMissionTogether
