Leader News: Sept. 1, 2015

September 2, 2015 | Leader News By NT-NL Staff

Sunday, Sept. 6: Confession, Repentance, and Commitment to End Racism. Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. #ELCAPrays [Image description: Several cream-colored pillar candles are arranged together. They are lit, and stand against a dark background. In the center of the image is a semi-transparent white circle with the text in bold black font. The ELCA logo appears on the bottom right of the image.]This Sunday, Sept. 6, we renew our commitment to end racism—a task that will take much, much longer than one day to achieve.

The NT-NL Public Witness for Peace and Justice Team will be organizing events and creating resources to help congregations engage in conversations about racism and privilege. These conversations can be scary, awkward, uncomfortable, unpleasant… but as disciples of Jesus we are called to love our neighbors, and to listen to the experiences of others, especially “the overlooked or ignored.”
