February 16/17th was a #MilesAndMiles weekend for sure. Black history month celebration with our African descent congregations. Dedication of the new Walnut Hill campus in Farmers Branch en Espanol y Ingles. Both on Saturday.
Between the services at Mt. Olive and Walnut Hill I had time to pop in to check with our over 60 youth and leaders from 10 congregations gathered for the NT-NL Jr. High Youth event. So awesome to see these young people and also connect with one of my former youth from Trinity, Fort Worth. Youth and young adults are a priority for me as bishop and I appreciate the hard work of our synod youth leaders putting these events together.
Sunday with Trinity, Wichita Falls and Pastor Christopher Yanker. Pastor Yanker serves as an authorized pastor in our midst. He is ordained by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone, our global partners. Then Parish Lay Ministry Academy commissioning at Calvary, Richland Hills. A blessed and full weekend. #NTNL Grateful for safe travel and the bishop mobile that is approaching 80,000 miles in just 27 months. Personal connections are a priority.
