I’ve been getting to know the congregation at Mount Olive well recently, since Pr. Deb Loudin McCann retired in May. We’ve been pondering together about their future direction. But this day was just as much about celebrating where they have been.
This congregation serves some vital needs in the community, particularly with their food pantry. They were home to the original food pantry in the city of Dallas. While it was reincarnated in its current form only a couple of decades ago, thousands have been fed over the years here in this place.
Even as they struggle to maintain an old building with an aging congregation, the work they do is still critical. God is still at work here. So on this day we sang. We praised. We gave thanks to God!
