Children Invited to Sing at Lutheran Hymn Festival
Dear Siblings in Christ,
Please allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is Scott Hyslop, and I will be serving as the director of the children’s choir for the Dallas area Lutheran Hymn Festival, and it is my distinct pleasure to invite all children in grades 4 – 8 of your congregation to join in the children’s choir which will be performing on stage at Dallas’s spectacular Meyerson Symphony Center this coming September! This year’s special guest will be the noted organist and composer Kevin Hildebrand from Concordia Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Kevin’s engaging compositions and effervescent playing will be sure to make this a joyful celebration as Lutherans from all ethnic backgrounds join together from all corners of Texas to share our common heritage of hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs.

Requests from Refugee Services of Texas
From our partners at Refugee Services of Texas – Dallas and Fort Worth:
We are excitedly planning our 2022 North Texas Giving Day event! Our goal is to raise $50,000 to continue to provide needed services for our refugee families. This year, our event will take place on September 22nd from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm at the Sons of Hermann Hall in Deep Ellum (Dallas). The night will celebrate how art connects us through a language of its own and will feature live performance art, an art auction with various mediums, and delicious food. We are close to securing a caterer who will be featuring food from our cookbook, Plated Stories, throughout our night of art, and now we need you! Do you or someone you know have an artistic talent you would like to share? We are looking for performance artists and artists of all mediums to donate pieces to our statewide art auction, which coincides with our NTGD event. We are also looking for a sound technician, equipment, and a photographer for the evening. Please let us know if you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering their skills or hearing more about our sponsorship opportunities for NTGD by emailing Hope Goldman at hgoldman@rstx.org. We continue to be amazed at our community of support, and we thank you for the many ways you support refugees and other displaced people. The Fort Worth Service Center is collecting school supplies through August 19. Donations can be dropped off during business hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. For more information, reach out to Mercy (mboamah@rstx.org) for more information.
and
Through August 11: RST Fort Worth Donation Drive for new moms. Email Mercy at mboamah@rstx.org or Grace at gramazani@rstx.org with any questions.

Where in the world is?
Across a context as wide and different as NT-NL, the reality of Covid-19 is very different. As such, NT-NL synod staff are doing more in-person Sunday visits for worship and occasional meetings. However, as good stewards of time and travel dollars, we will be utilizing online meeting formats into our new hybrid future. Given the rise of breakthrough infections and in order to protect those gathered, the synod staff will choose to wear masks as is deemed appropriate unless preaching or presiding and sufficient social distancing can be provided.
