Message from Bishop Gronberg
Dear Partners in Mission:
When the ELCA Region 4 Bishops met in DFW this last December we discussed together that there will be an election for a new Presiding Bishop of the ELCA in 2025. We talked about who we believed this person needed to be given the context and realities of the current ELCA and our communities. Each of us agreed to write something beginning with the prompt “The next presiding bishop of the ELCA…” This prompt is intended to let the writer pick the next word and go with it as they feel called.
My contribution can be found here. These are my thoughts in the context I serve and the role I play in the church. I would encourage you to consider the qualities, skills, and passions you believe the next Presiding Bishop should have. And to pray for the person who God is preparing for this role as well as you NT-NL churchwide voting members who will participate in this election in July.
May God bless you all in this season of congregational meetings. We are grateful for your work and leadership.
