Partners in Mission:
For many years the NT-NL synod has been a leader in raising up leaders for our Conferencia Latina. We have pioneered Lay Theological Education in Spanish for almost two decades and more recently established the Escuela Secondario d Educacion Teologica/Secondary School of Theological Education. In this work we have been able to supply pastors and educated lay leaders for our congregations and for the entire church. In the past month that commitment to developing leaders has resulted in two of our Conferencia Latina pastors being invited to take on new roles with Wartburg Seminary (Dubuque, IA).
Pastor Edy Santos, who developed the SSTE/ESET program along with Pastor Gus Vinajeras, has agreed to serve as the Program Director for Journey Together, a competency-based TEEM program, delivered in both Spanish and English. You can read more about this new role on the Wartburg website.
Pastor Violeta Siguenza, who was raised up for rostered leadership through the ministry of Walnut Hill, Farmers Branch, has accepted our offer to serve as the Interim Director for the Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest. You can read more about this new role on the Wartburg website.
In both of these new roles Pastor Siguenza and Pastor Santos will continue to relate to NT-NL and our leaders. While we will miss these leaders in our midst we are grateful to God for the work of developing these leaders done by our synod that can then be a blessing for the wider church. It is a gift to be able to share these leaders gifts for the sake of the Gospel.
In Christ,
Bishop Gronberg
