Financial Wellness Seminars
Retirement brings a variety of emotions. You may be excited about traveling to new places, spending time with family, or just a more relaxed schedule. But you may also concerned about social security, healthcare options, leaving a legacy, and how to make your income last.
How you’re feeling about retirement may have a lot to do with how you’re planning for it.
Join Portico’s Pre-Retirement Seminar on Monday, Nov. 2 at Briarwood Retreat Center to find out who they can help.
Balancing monthly expenses, debt repayment, and short-term savings goals, like a home repair or family vacation, can feel like a juggling act. It’s difficult to make saving for retirement and other long-range goals like your child’s college education a priority when today’s needs are pressing. But you can take small steps that will help you meet today’s needs and tomorrow’s goals.
Join Portico’s Early-Mid-Career Financial Wellness Seminar on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Briarwood Retreat Center to find out how they can help.
Weapons in Worship?
Legislation passed in 2015 puts new questions on the table about weapons in houses of worship.
Do we want to welcome all legal weapons, from concealed carry to open carry? Do we want to welcome concealed carry but prohibit open carry?
Join Texas Interfaith Center for Public Policy for a presentation and discussion about how the new law impacts your congregation.
No cost to attend. Please RSVP at: http://texasimpact.org/NewGunLaws

You will create an account to enter the system (or, if you have already registered yourself or someone else for a Briarwood event, use that same login information). Select “NT-NL Events” and then “Bishop’s Convocation.” (If you have questions about the registration process, please call Sharon at 940-241-2099 or email her at sharon@briarwoodretreat.org.)
Bring your books!
We will once again have a book exchange. Bring your gently-read books so they can find a new home, and pick up a few new reads for yourself!
