Friday Feb 11, 2022 I got the chance to attend the Texas Region 1-6A Wrestling Championships. There I got the joyful opportunity to see two NT-NL Synod, ELCA young people, Rebecca and Pete, both members of Abiding Grace Lutheran Church in Southlake make the regional finals and qualify for the Texas State Wrestling championships next week.
3.5 years ago I was invited by Pastor Nick Billardello of Abiding Grace to take part in their Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation liturgy). I was invited both as a bishop but also because Pete is my nephew and Godson. What a joy to see how these two have grown through their high school years. Years of challenge due to Covid-19 that no high school students in living memory have faced. And yet they have achieved and stayed connected to their faith.
Across NT-NL we have amazing young people just like Rebecca and Pete. What a gift it is to be a part of their story and that of all our young people.
