Rev. Dr. Kendra Mohn has served as a parish pastor for 16 years in a variety of contexts in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). During seminary training, she completed Clinical Pastoral Education in St. Paul, MN, and her pastoral internship in Auburn, WA. She served Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, WI, as Associate Pastor (2005-2009) and Interim Senior Pastor (2009-2010). In 2010, she came to Trinity Lutheran in Fort Worth, TX, as Teaching Pastor (2010-2016) and now serves as Lead Pastor.
Dr. Mohn holds a PhD in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in New Testament; her academic research focuses on ancient masculinity and the Roman Empire as context for the New Testament. She is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, IA (BA 1999, cello performance and communication/linguistics), the University of Pittsburgh, PA (MA 2001, historical musicology), Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN (MDiv 2005), and Brite Divinity School, Fort Worth, TX (PhD 2018). She loves teaching and learning, and likes thinking critically with others about how the church, the academy, and contemporary culture intersect.
Kendra was raised on a farm near Cherokee, Iowa, where she grew up showing 4-H livestock at the fair, taking music lessons, working at the local radio station, and helping out at church. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, photography, travel, and cheering for the TCU Horned Frogs and Iowa State Cyclones. She is married to Rev. Erik Gronberg, PhD, Bishop of the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana Synod of the ELCA. Kendra and Erik live in the Foster Park neighborhood of Fort Worth with their three children and rescue cat name Minerva.
Kendra believes that coaching can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and organizations, and has experienced that difference both as a coach and a client. She is a Level 1 Coach with the ELCA, maintains an active coaching practice, and has continued her coaching training focusing on ways to foster discernment, empowerment, and integration in her clients. In addition to coaching, Kendra is committed to mentoring leaders in other ways; she has served as an Internship Supervisor, a Mentor for students in the Distributive and Collaborative seminary programs at Luther and Wartburg Seminaries, and an informal encourager and discernment partner for many.
