Easter 2 (Quasimodo Sunday) was another adaptive affair across NT-NL. I was honored to be welcomed into many of your homes through the gift of technology. Either as the entire liturgy of the Word or inserted as the sermon portion. I am also grateful for Pastor Moises Carrasquillo who provided a spanish sermon as well from 1st Sagrada Familia, Garland. We are indeed #InMissionTogether. Those are available at https://www.ntnl.org/resources/covid-19.
As we continue the work of being church in the time of COVID-19 it is vital we remind ourselves of the abundance of God’s provision so that we can serve our neighbors. There is a great deal of desire to “get back to normal” as soon as possible. But as I stated in my Easter 1 sermon a week ago, there is no going back to normal. Easter has changed our normal and this crisis is an opportunity to realize that.
Just as the leadership at Briarwood Retreat Center/Briarwood Leadership Center is having to think hard about how, if, and when summer programming might be possible it is vital we do not rush to decisions. Continue to listen to local public health officials. Be in conversation with leadership in your community and please consult with my office as helpful. COVID-19 cases have been impacting our congregations. If you have active cases in your community please communicate that with us. We are better when we share information and knowledge so we can make the best next choice.
A blessed Easter 2 to you all. May God in Christ come to you in your doubts, griefs, and joys to ensure you know that Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen, Indeed!!! Alleluia!!! #NTNL #BWTX
