Sunday morning brought me to Resurrection Lutheran in Plano. It’s been almost three years since my last visit to this congregation, after our Synod Assembly in Plano.
The congregation has a strong music program with an excellent handbell choir and a solid praise team at their late service. I thoroughly enjoyed worship here.
It was also Bold Women Sunday, which meant they gathered a special offering that the Women of the ELCA collect for Katie’s Fund to support women’s ministries and education. The congregation has a special “tree” with names of those who serve in various ways, that is part of this year’s stewardship campaign. It’s also the place where the special offering was brought.
Every door is also topped with a sign that says “Disciples Entrance” to remind them as they leave the building they go to serve.
On this Sunday, the congregation also had a potluck followed by a presentation on church safety by a couple of Plano police officers. I couldn’t stay for the whole thing but it was very well done from what I got to experience.
My favorite thing though, was the kids korner built by Pr. Bill Irons. It just was a welcoming fun spot that added to the warmth of this place on a rainy day.
