Early May brought a trip to Shreveport, Louisiana for me. My primary Sunday visit was to worship and preach at Holy Trinity where Pr Stan Larson serves. I was there unofficially for their choir cantata in December but this was the opportunity for me to learn about the congregation.
This congregation has a tremendous music ministry and encourages children in pursuit of the arts. This Sunday they were having rehearsal for a musical about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the fiery furnace. Notice the creative props they used.
They also have a lovely outdoor chapel and prayer garden which does occasionally get used for special worship but is primarily a place for peaceful meditation
The second part of my visit was to St. Stephen for the retirement celebration for SAWL Harold Christiansen, who has served there for over 20 years. In addition I had an endorsement panel for Joel Hicks, our candidate preparing for ordained ministry there.
And who knew? They have an outdoor worship space too. Lovely wooded space enhanced by the original crosses from the front of the church.
