From Facebook 5/13/2022: Please pray for our siblings in the South Dakota Synod, ELCA and for Bishop Hagmaier and her staff as they deal with the damage from massive storms Thursday 5/12. If you wish to contribute please go to www.ldr.org or you can give to our synod disaster fund at www.ntnl.org and we will be forwarding funds to the SD Synod. May God’s peace be with all who have lost loved ones and property, and may God give perseverance and strength to all who serve in this time. #NTNL #SDSynod #InMissionTogether
Bishop’s Message below…
Good morning, South Dakota Synod and all those who have been affected by last evening’s weather. Please, know that you are not alone in these trying moments of your life. Your synod staff, communities of faith across the synod and the ELCA are here to accompany you. I will be in conversation with Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) to see how we can partner to bring relief to you.
Pastors, deacons and synod authorized ministers (SAMs), if your community has been affected by last night’s storms, please reach out to me, so we can be in communication about needs, which I will gather and report to LDR. You may email me at chagmaier@sdsynod.org.
Please stay tuned for updates. We will be reaching out to you via the synod’s listserv. If you are not subscribed to the synod news, please go to www.sdsynod.org and sign up for the e-news to stay connected and receive updates.
Now, let us do what people of God always do first, pray and be assured that God hears our prayers:
“We pray to you almighty God, in this time of disaster. You are our refuge and our strength, a very present help in time of trouble. Do not let us fail in the face of these events. Uphold us with your love, and give us the strength we need. Help us in our confusion, and guide our actions. Heal the hurt, console the bereaved and afflicted, protect the innocent and helpless, and deliver any who are still in peril; for the sake of your great mercy in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!” (ELW Pastoral Care edition, page 387)
