As I drove down and back from Austin for the Upbring meeting yesterday I took great joy in the carpet of bluebonnets covering the highway right of ways. Former first lady Lady Bird Johnson’s dream of having roadways beautified by the state flower of Texas being fulfilled.
Today at Briarwood Leadership Center I saw this patch of bluebonnets in the wildflower garden. Just as our Easter comes late this year we are a bit late this year in seeing our flowers bloom, but bloom they have.
This week our rostered and lay leaders in NT-NL Synod, ELCA do the labor of preparing for and leading the people in the liturgies of Holy Week and Easter. It is a great deal of work that doesn’t always seem to bear fruit immediately. But we trust that through the power of the Holy Spirit faith will be kindled in those who hear the Word proclaimed and experience the wonder of Christ’s passion.
So no matter how all these liturgies go we know that, just like these flowers are blooming, Easter will come. God’s peace to you all this Holy Week. #NTNL #InMissionTogether
