Sunday before Evangelical Lutheran Church in America churchwide assembly begins in earnest. A busy day of meetings and worship. Was good to have time together with the church council, conference of bishops, and the synod vice presidents. Our new NT-NL Synod, ELCA Vice President was present (photo below is of synod VPs). It is a strength of our church that lay leadership is a required part of our ministry.
After CoB meetings we adjourned for a bit to receive a welcome gift from our hosts. A pastor of the Greater Milwaukee Synod has a ministry where folks gather to brew beer and root beer. It continues the many years of tradition of monks brewing beer. And given Milwaukee’s heritage of brewing it is appropriate.
We then had a dinner celebration of our ministry and sharing of gratitude for retiring ELCA secretary the Rev. Chris Boerger. Boerger was our NT-NL synod assembly churchwide representative in 2019. We are grateful for his leadership and in honor of him a special coffee selection was prepared.
As I walked back into our hotel here I noticed that the walls had plaques honoring the Wisconsin Broadcaster Hall of Fame. There was a plaque there for “Mr. Baseball” Bob Uecker. A fun connection to the past. #justabitoutside #NTNL #CWA2019 #InMissionTogether
