We have had a number of retirements recently in our synod. I don’t always make it to the retirement celebration but this week I was lucky to fit it onto my calendar. Pr. Chuck Hubbard retired after more than two decades of service at Gloria Dei in Garland. He has also been a long time leader of the Public Witness team as well as many other social justice groups.
Hia celebration was packed with many colleagues and members of not only Gloria Dei but also other congregations he has served or been a neighbor to.
It was a celebration that also reflected the ministry and love of this unique congregation. Three cakes – chocolate, carrot and white – to make sure everyone would be happy. And even the many dogs who are regular attendees at Sunday morning worship came to bid their farewell and thanks to Pr. Hubbard as well. He will be missed by many as he and his family move to Colorado in their retirement.
