A big time in NT-NL Synod, ELCA today. First we had drive in worship at 10am with Pastor Neil White and the folks of Rejoice. This congregation is in one of the fastest growing areas of the country. An area growing not just with “traditional” suburban sprawl but also with a significant sub-continent Indian population. As a result they are located next to one of the largest Hindu temples in North America (you can see the spires in the background) and have been intentional about interfaith work. It was a joy to preach for worship.
Then we went inside and had an ordination. Adam Stockton has been a candidate in our synod for some time. He has gone the road less traveled through Brite Divinity School (TCU) and United Lutheran Seminary (Gettysburg and Philadelphia, PA). All while working at Rejoice. Previously he was the youth minister at St. Lukes, Richardson where my associate the Rev. Kris Totzke was pastor. It was a gift to have her preach for his ordination today. To have his spouse and family present and to lay hands (washed) and masked say the prayer of ordination over Adam. We held our breath and took one unmasked picture for posterity. Thanks be to God. We also remembered in prayer the Rev. Doris Harris (St. John, Dallas) who is hospitalized. Please keep her in prayer. #NTNL #InMissionTogether
