This past Sunday I visited the northernmost congregation in our synod- Oslo in Gruver. Oslo is almost in Oklahoma and almost in Kansas. They have members who live in both states. Pr. Arlen Lloyd has responded well to that challenge. Because he has confirmation students living in three states, they do their classes by Zoom.
They also have a beautiful pipe organ and a new organist who recently moved to Gruver from China. Talk about importing your talent!
Children are important to this congregation as can be seen by the care put into decorating their nursery.
The congregation also helps to lead and host “Fifth Quarter” events following home football games in Gruver. They’re deeply connected to the community and do vital ministry.
They also do a heck of a good potluck. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the far north Texas part of our synod.
