Monday November 11th we gave thanks for Veterans. We give thanks for their sacrifice and also for that of their families as they serve.
That evening many NT-NL Synod, ELCA members gathered at Southern Methodist University as Perkins School of Theology partnered with KERA to host Rick Steves, a member of an ELCA congregation in Edmonds, WA, and a noted travel writer and guide. Rick spoke to a crowd of over 1,000 about “Travel as a Spiritual Act.” He built his talk on his book Travel as a Political Act. Looking at how traveling, engaging others helps us.
Steves clearly lives into the Lutheran understanding of vocation. His work in exposing people to different cultures and communities, to sharing each others “baggage”, is a blessing to us all. It was a pleasure to meet him and have a few moments to share faith and travel stories. Grateful for his work. #NTNL #Perkins #InMissionTogether
