National Young Adult Discernment Retreat
Bishop Gronberg has made Youth and Youth Adult Ministry a priority for NT-NL. This is another great opportunity for our young adults to connect with ELCA young adults from across the country.
Why Me? Why Now? Why This? – Listening for God in a Noisy World.
Hosted by ELCA Seminaries and ELCA Young Adult Ministries
November 16-18
Lutheridge Camp and Conference Center, Arden, NC
With so many voices seeking our attention, how do we learn to listen to the voice of God?
What is our vocation and how is our faith called to be alive in that vocation?
The Seminaries of the ELCA and Young Adult Ministries, along with participants from across the whole ELCA, will spend time sorting through some of the predominant voices competing for our attention – voices that stake a claim on who we should be, what we should value, and what makes us happy. We will spend time thinking about the voice of God which lays claim on our lives, how that impacts how we spend our time, and how following God’s call might help us find a sense of purpose, meaning, and even joy.
Who: Young adults (18-30ish)
How Much: $50. We know cost of attendance is a huge hurdle for young people, that’s why we’re committed to paying all travel, lodging, and food costs for this event. You will see on the event page that there is a $50 registration fee. This is so that people have a little of their own “buy in”, but please don’t let this be the reason young people you know don’t join us. Email Savanna.Sullivan@elca.org if the $50 will be a problem for potential participants.
The Gathering – Life and Home
In late June, more than 31,000 high school students and adults came together in Houston for the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering. Mission Investment Fund was there, and thousands of attendees helped us complete a 30-foot-long photo mosaic that ultimately appeared onstage at NRG Stadium for the closing worship and eucharist.
The Gathering shouldn’t just stay in Houston. It needs to be brought home and shared and lived. It’s too much a part of our collective story to let it stop on July 1! So, we created post-Gathering materials for you and your community. These resources help you think about how you will live the amazing experiences of preached gospel, life-changing stories, and radical hospitality and embody them in your lives. Inside this resource, you will find three lessons: Gathering for Radical Hospitality, Gathering to Build Conversation, and Gathering to Voice What You Will Live For. Download our post-Gathering resource today and share the Gathering experience with your community.
