Lutheran Campus Ministry Student Referral
As another school year begins, help Lutheran Campus Ministry connect with students. If you are a young adult or know of a young adult looking for a faith community on campus, use the LuMin Lutheran Campus Ministry Network Student Referral Form to find a ministry.
I’m a Lutheran
Peter Mayer is a songwriter, the lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, and a Lutheran. “I’m a Lutheran because I’m called to be part of that vital choir of service and rejoicing that speaks and listens to a world that needs a song and needs to know and experience this mighty love of God in Christ.” Learn more about Mayer in his “I’m a Lutheran” feature in Living Lutheran.
One Year Later: Hurricane Updates
Nearly one year ago, a quick succession of hurricanes altered the lives of millions of our neighbors. Today, we join in prayer for those who are still on the long road to recovery.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of this church, Lutheran Disaster Response has been able to support those who lost their homes or were otherwise affected by these hurricanes.
Read the report: 2017 Hurricanes – One Year Later. And visit the Lutheran Disaster Response: Hurricane Relief website to learn more.
We’re not done yet. The vast devastation caused by these hurricanes is expected to take five to seven years or more to repair, and Lutheran Disaster Response will be there until the work is finished. With another hurricane season already affecting our neighbors, your continuing gifts help make sure we can continue to respond. #InMissionTogether
Thank you, again, for your generosity and support.

Teaching Fish to Walk: Church Systems and Adaptive Challenges
King of Glory, Dallas
October 12
Informative | Interactive | Provocative | Imaginative
The Teaching Fish to Walk: Church Systems and Adaptive Challenges workshop will have no elephants in the room. We will explore with participants in an open and provocative way the future of the Christian faith in the context of the great velocity and reach of change in North America.
We have no “golden” answers. But we believe that a vital, realistic yet encouraging and collaborative conversation needs to happen. The church faces many adaptive issues, not unlike the early church had to contend with such as defining leadership roles and establishing its own lexicon to define words to convey fresh meaning regarding what they believed and who they were.
Adaptation means making structures or situations more suitable to the environment. Adaptation is evolutionary, and evolution is always messy. In Germany, for instance, arborists have discovered that certain types of trees are beginning to grow “anxiety shoots.” With changes in climate, trees are adapting with new root systems. Could we do less?
“We” are two Lutheran pastors (veteran church leaders). The Rev. Dr. Jon Lee is the former Senior Pastor at King of Glory, Dallas, and a past president of the Dallas Clergy Association. The Rev. Dr. Pete Steinke is an internationally respected church consultant and author/speaker. Together, they will offer presentations, guide group activities, and learn alongside of others.
