On October 12, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago will present the 2016 Distinguished Alumni/ae Awards to seven outstanding graduates of the seminary or its predecessor schools. The public awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m. in the Augustana Chapel at LSTC, 1100 E. 55th Street, Chicago. A festive reception follows the ceremony.
One of the Honorees
Kathryn L. “Kate” Warn (1997, MDiv) serves as the Rwanda Country Coordinator for the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program. Her ministry both as a pastor in US congregations and as a missionary in Sudan, Sierra Leone, and Rwanda witness to the love of Christ through the service to others in places of great hurt and wounding in the world. She will receive the Witness to the World Award.
LSTC Updates
LSTC is in the midst of a rebranding effort, which includes a new logo and new website (lstc.edu). This is on the heels of the Seminary’s new Public Church Curriculum.
Prospective Masters and Advanced Studies students are encouraged to attend LSTC’s Fall Seminary Sampler, Sunday, October 23, to Tuesday, October 25. Participants will explore how church, world, faith, and their story intersect at LSTC by meeting with current students and faculty, sitting in on classes, and experiencing what life is like as a seminarian in Hyde Park. Register online or contact admissions@lstc.edu.
The Experience at LTSS
“The name The Experience was chosen because Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary believes what you, as a prospective student, experiences is the most appropriate and influential way to determine which seminary is the right place to earn your theological education. During your time with us, we will show you our community and the community surrounding us. You will experience life with our current students and the heartbeat of campus. Also, our faculty will offer you a glimpse of the classroom experience that is essential to your theological formation. We look forward to welcoming you to The Experience!”
Upcoming opportunities:
November 13-14
January 29-30
March 26-27

FREE Organ
“I am wondering if you know anyone who might want an organ that I believe is in very good shape, that was my mother’s. She loved playing it when she was able, but it really hasn’t been played much in the last few years.
We would help/pay the expense of transporting it if needed, but would like it to go where it can still be enjoyed. We thought maybe there is a little church somewhere, or a student who would like it.
Let me know as soon as you could, since we will be needing to move it out in the next 2 weeks. Feel free to send this to anyone else you think would know of an interested party.
Thanks,
Laurie Donovan”
